Supporter dies in Atletico clash

A supporter died following violent clashes between fans of Atletico Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna right before the match. The 43-year-old Deportivo fan was drawn out of the river close to Vicente Calderon stadium in Atletico. Eleven were injured, including a police woman. 20 persons were taken into custody and 100 troublemakers identified. Both clubs and the Spanish league criticised the action. Atletico president Enrique Cerezo described it as a non-football-related violence but that of radical groups.
