Gerrard is still important - John Barnes



Former Liverpool forward, John Barnes, says club captain Steven Gerrard is still good enough despite his losing form. The 34-year-old told BBC Radio 5 live Steven still deserves a place in the club though he is past his best. Gerrard, who missed his first Liverpool league game since New Year's Day against Stoke City on Saturday, denied reports of rift between Rodgers and himself. Barnes concluded Gerrard may not be the player he once was, but he is still important to his club.
