The Football Association
investigates Mario Balotelli following racism- and anti-semitism suggestive Instagram
post by the Liverpool striker.
The image post of Nintendo
character Super Mario had the text, "jumps like a black man and grabs coin
like a Jew," and has since been deleted by the player.
The Italian denied the
allegation in a tweet, calling it his "unlucky moment." The tweet further read
"My mom is Jewish so all of you shut up please."
Former FA executive and
current chief executive of the Jewish Leadership Council Simon Johnson wants
Balotelli to face action. Liverpool said
they'll speak with Balotelli while FA stated they'll look into the matter.
Under the FA's social media
guidelines, the minimum ban for race-related breaches of
rules is five games.
