...as LIverpool rejuvenates

Liverpool performance last night at the capital one cup was outstanding with sterling at the peak of the demolition the reds seem to control most of the game with ruthless blend of finishing and determination.
Take Steven Gerrard, for example; His presence was massive, he was full of purpose in his running and looked something like his old self again alongside Lucas Leiva and Jordan Henderson majorly dominating the middle of the park. There were a staggering 51 passes in the build up to Sterling’s opener, a head-turning move that left Bournemouth’s defence utterly bewildered.
Such was the speed that it was hard to keep up, but eventually Lazar Markovic swung a cross in from the left for Jordan Henderson to head back across Artur Boruc’s goal. This time Sterling, who was denied three times by Manchester United keeper David de Gea in Sunday’s defeat applied the finishing touch with a deft header. That was a team move, the gameplay that Rodgers has been trying to promote at Anfield during a wretched run that has already brought them seven league defeats. Reaching a semi-final of the Capital One Cup, particularly after last Tuesday’s exit from the Champions League, feels like progress. Remarkably, a season of transition could still end with a trophy.

Hull City Manager chides Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen following Spurs' 2-1 win

Following Spurs' 2-1 win over Hull City, City manager Steve Bruce lashed out at Tottenham's Jan Vertonghen for exaggerating to get Hull City's Ramirez Gaston red-carded. Bruce castigated such act as unhealthy for the Premier League. The Uruguayan midfielder Ramirez got the red card for kicking at Belgian Jan Vertonghen. Bruce argued his man only showed "petulance" when he was provoked by Jan. And such behaviour could not be regarded as "violent". The City went down when Tottenham's Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen found the net in the game's second half. Speaking with his news conference, Bruce said, "Ramirez has shown petulance. Vertonghen has had a little go at him, and Ramirez has flicked out. The law says it is a violent conduct. For me, it is an act of petulance -- it is not violent conduct." Via espn
