Former Liverpool player Mark
Lawrenson has castigated Rodgers' team as "rudderless", "low on
confidence and lacking definitive way of playing." The BBC Sport pandit said the Reds has slugged to the bottom as fast as they tittered forward last
season. Following Tuesday's 1-1 draw with Basel, Liverpool exited the group
stage in a shameful farewell after recording several defeats in the Champions
league. Lawrenson criticised Rodgers as depending on injured and sidelined
Daniel Sturridge and signed-off Luiz Suarez who scored 31 goals in 33 games
last season. The former Republic of Ireland defender lambasted boss Brendan's
reliance on Suarez and Sturridge as "saviours", claiming those
players were actually 50% of the team as Reds' key players are out of form.
Liverpool falls ninth on the Premier league table and will face Manchester
United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Reports claim that Manchester City are plotting to make a move for talented French youngster forward Kylian Mbappe for £200 million. But City boss Pep Guardiola has come out to say in a news conference ahead of City's UCL clash with German club Hoffenheim that the move cannot happen. Here is what he said in the conference: "That is not going to happen," "Sometimes I don't understand where that news comes from."
