Real Madrid castigates UEFA president Michel Platini's claim that a German should win the Ballon d'Or and not Cristiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo, a two-time winner, is seen as a possible winner of the award by January, but Platini stated in a report that one of these shortlisted Germans: Toni Kroos, Philipp Lahm, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller and Mario Gotze, should earn it. Blancos coach Carlo Ancelotti and president Florentino Perez, who both support Ronaldo, decry this statement. Also on Friday, Madrid released a statement criticising Platini's comment, while Madrid Fabio Coentrao described Michel's comment as 'disgraceful.'
