NCFA dismisses 'Kitchen' Insult appeal

Northumberland County Football Association official John Cummings appeal for a withdrawal of the four months ban on ground of discriminatory statement has been dismissed. John had told female Referee Lucy May that "a woman's place is in the kitchen and not on the football field." He was initially fined £250, attend an education programme, and be off football activities for fourth months. But the FA cut it down to a £1500 fine. John argued that the body had been lenient on ex-referee David Elleray's offensive remark, so why the agitation about his case? He asserts that only after his death will a woman ever referee in his league.

Northumberland FA's equality policy:

"The Northumberland FA, in all its activities, will not discriminate, nor treat anyone less favourably, on grounds of gender, sexual orientation, marital status, race, nationality, ethnic origin, religion or belief, ability or disability. The Northumberland FA will ensure that it treats people fairly and with respect and will provide access and opportunities for all members of the community to take part in, and enjoy, its activities."
