Following Olivier Giroud unintentional exclusion from the squad list, the Arsenal striker will miss his side's remaining Champions League group matches. Olivier suffered an injury on August 23 that was expected to bench him till January. Clubs register 25 players (including eight homegrown players) on A list for Champions League group matches that must be submitted by September 3. With two games remaining for The Gunners and only one point needed to qualify for the knockout stages, Giroud could be included in the next list due for submission latest February 3.

Bruce castigated such act as unhealthy for the Premier League. The Uruguayan midfielder Ramirez got the red card for kicking at Belgian Jan Vertonghen. Bruce argued his man only showed "petulance" when he was provoked by Jan. And such behaviour could not be regarded as "violent". The City went down when Tottenham's Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen found the net in the game's second half. Speaking with his news conference, Bruce said, "Ramirez has shown petulance. It's safe to say Pep is a perfectionist and also a headmaster, lol. But seriously, Pep has no intentions to drop his standards after a record-breaking 2017/18 season.
