Tottenham Hotspur 2-2 West Ham United: Kane scores late equaliser to rescue point for Spurs

West Ham started the game strongly, while ensuring the hosts no room to pick out a key pass in the final third.

Sam Allardyce’s men came with a game plan to limit space in the areas Tottenham are normally a threat, and they managed to take the lead early into the derby game.

Versatile midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate headed home in the 22nd minute to put West Ham 1-0 up. The goal came following a mistake from Tottenham midfielder Moussa Dembele, who dribbled the ball back towards his own goal, eventually conceding possession deep in his own half, before Kouyate dispatched the resulting cross from out wide.

West Ham frustrated the hosts for the remainder of the first-half, and managed to double their lead after the break. Diafra Sakho scored from a narrow angle to seemingly put the game beyond doubt.

But Tottenham have came from behind in many games this season, and they set up a rousing finale after Danny Rose scored in the 81st minute.

Harry Kane then won a penalty in the last minute of the game, after being felled by West Ham’s Alex Song. The England hopeful stepped up to the spot, but his effort was saved by United goalkeeper Adrian, before Kane followed up and scored to make it 2-2 at the death.
