Burnley striker Ings set to choose Liverpool over Sociedad

The 22-year-old has held talks with Sociedad in recent weeks, with Moyes extremely keen to bring him to the Basque country, but despite being offered lucrative terms, he has decided to go to Merseyside in what he has described as his ‘dream’ move.

Liverpool attempted to sign Ings towards the end of the January transfer window, but the player was convinced to stay at Turf Moor until the end of the season when his contract expires.

Signing a new deal with Burnley appears a highly unlikely prospect, and he is able to sign for another club on a pre-contract agreement now. The Reds will have to pay Burnley around £6m in compensation in order to complete the transfer, as Ings is under the age of 24.

The England U-21 international is top scorer for the Clarets this season with nine goals in 23 Premier League appearances, having played a hugely significant role in helping them to reach the top-flight last term against all the odds.
