Burnley vs Swansea - Premier League preview and team news

It was match marred by controversy, but Burnley’s point away to leaders Chelsea could prove invaluable at the end of the season, although they could live to regret the number of points they have dropped against relegation rivals. With just three home wins all season, the Clarets must take advantage of this one.

Recent days have seen more talk over the future of top scorer of Danny Ings, but the 22-year-old continues to maintain his fine form with the able support of the hardworking George Boyd and Ashley Barnes, who has proved an effective strike partner despite his dubious contribution to proceedings at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors have been very up and down in recent weeks, but returned to form at home with a superb win to secure their first ever league double over Manchester United. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s return made a difference, but Ki Sung-Yueng was outstanding again in the centre of midfield.

The South Korean has been consistency personified all season, but Jonjo Shelvey has reinvented himself in the last couple of months. Warned about his discipline by manager Garry Monk earlier in the season, he has come up with the perfect response, and will be keen to compliment his recent displays with a goal here.

Barnes was not punished for his challenge of Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic so can play for Burnley, but Kevin Long, Dean Marney and Matt Taylor remain absent.

The Swans are still without defender Kyle Bartley, but otherwise have a fully-fit squad to choose from and could go unchanged.
