The Argentine is planning to hold discussions with the Football Association, with Kane possibly in line to be called up to represent the England U-21 side at the European Championships in June, when the senior team is also in competitive action.
Kane has been in remarkable form for Spurs this season, emerging from the fringes of the first-team to become one of the club’s most valuable players, top scoring this season with 24 goals in his 39 appearances in all competitions. As a result, he hotly tipped to represent England on a senior level when the next squad is announced later in March.
England boss Roy Hodgson has previously stated that he would like English players with senior international experience take part in age-restricted tournaments, although former U-21 coach Stuart Pearace was prevented from bringing the likes of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere among others to the 2013 European Championship.
And Pochettino is hopeful that that the same can happen regarding Kane, fearful that he could play too much football. He said: "Maybe I would prefer that Harry has a month's holiday after the season to rest and recover his body and mind.
"We need to arrive at a deal with the player and the FA. This is my opinion but I realise we need to support the national team and to take the best decision for us all. This is our concern - he is our player. The FA need the player to play but at the same time they are concerned about the development of their own young talent."
