Dick Advocaat gets harsh introduction to life in the Premier League

West Ham United vs Sunderland, Premier League - Diafra Sakho nets dramatic late winner which leaves Black Cats facing a major battle to retain Premier League status

Dick Advocaat was given a harsh introduction to life in the Premier League as Diafra Sakho netted a dramatic late winner for West Ham which leaves Sunderland facing a major battle to retain their Premier League status.
Advocaat must have thought he would be leaving east London with a valuable point in his first game in charge, but with just two minutes left on the clock, Sakho broke the hearts of the Sunderland faithful when he produced a clinical finish to hand West Ham their first victory since January 18.
The Dutch coach might be the oldest manager in the top flight, but with nine major club honours to his name including leading Holland and Russia at the World Cup and European Championships, this latest mission of helping Sunderland stay up must surely rate as one of his biggest ever challenges.
Advocaat showed he is ready to take a gamble playing a 4-3-3 formation away from home and had no hesitation bringing Adam Johnson back into the spotlight for the first time since he was arrested on allegations of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl.
