The 34-year-old recently captained Chelsea to a Capital One Cup triumph against Tottenham this month, and revealed he wants to stay past the summer when his contract is due to expire.
Chelsea have a policy of offering only one-year deals to players over 30, and despite Terry being in the eve of his career, his form has been exceptional.
Formerly an England international, Terry has been a mainstay at the heart of the Chelsea defence under manager Jose Mourinho, but only extended his deal with the Londoners at the very end of the previous season. His form has been so impressive that he looks on course to stay for at least one more campaign.
Terry even admitted he would consider staying at the Bridge for at least two or three more years, despite turning 35 at the end of the year. With Chelsea having a lack of other viable options, there’s every reason why they won’t part with the long-serving captain.
“If this is my last year, then I hope it goes out on a bang. But I am feeling great at the minute and it would be the wrong time to go. I have my little target to play next year, but, beyond that, two or three years, I don't know. The uncertainty has helped me. The roles have reversed and now the power is in the club's hands. That has inspired me," said Terry.
