England boss Gareth Southgate acknowledges his team his a "work in progress" and asks for support for his "young team"

After Harry Kane scored a late winner against Slovenia that has secured a World Cup entry for England, England boss Gareth Southgate has refused to be too joyful and has declared that England must still improve their performance. He has also asked for support for his young team so that they can be at their best in the 2018 Russia World Cup.

Here are some things he noted...

"As a young team, what they are having to deal with in terms of expectation and criticism of their performances, it is tough for them,

"They are young players we have to try to get behind.

"They are giving absolutely everything they have got. They don't have Champions League-winning medals throughout this group, they don't have Premier League-winning medals. They are a work in progress."
