Fletcher has praised Wayne Rooney on his excellent "team playing" skills. He said that while he was at Old Trafford, Rooney put his goal-scoring instincts aside and allowed the likes of Ronaldo to "shine".
He told Daily Mail, "Everybody wants recognition. You always think you should have more,"
"But he's broken records, captained United and England, won everything. He's up there with the best, every bit as influential as Ronaldo in his day."
Rooney equalled Sir Bobby Charlton's 249 goals for Manchester United when he scored in the weekend against Reading.
