Mertesacker close to signing contract extension deal with Arsenal

According to Sky Sports News, Arsenal has the option of extending the contract for the German International for another one-year.

Mertesacker who Wenger was fund of last season has not played this season because of a knee injury he sustained during the pre-season games.
