Jurgen Klopp rejects claims Borussia Dortmund pair Marco Reus and Ilkay Gundogan will join him at Liverpool

Marco Reus will not be turning up at Melwood any time soon if new Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp keeps his promises.

The German, who was greeted by a frenzy when taking over on Merseyside last week, has vowed not to poach any of his previous players from Borussia Dortmund.

Winger Reus has been linked with a switch to Liverpool in January, while midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is also highly thought of.

Both became integral members of Klopp’s Dortmund side, winning the Bundesliga title and reaching a Champions League final.

There are a raft of admirers on the continent in the pair, and Klopp insists he will not be getting in touch to tempt them away from Germany.

‘I have no intention whatsoever to lure Dortmund's stars to Liverpool,’ Klopp told Bild. The new manager's words also extend to Neven Subotic and Mats Hummels.

Klopp is likely to be backed in the transfer market this winter as he attempts to reshape a Liverpool team to have struggled since coming perilously close to clinching the Premier League title.
