David de Gea in the 'best form of his career' but remains tight-lipped over Manchester United release clause

Manchester United star David de Gea is keeping tight-lipped over speculation claiming a release clause was included when he signed his new deal at the club.

The 24-year-old recently penned a four-year contract at Old Trafford, despite being strongly pursued by Real Madrid.

However, speculation has been rife about a release clause being included, that would allow him to leave the club for a set fee.

De Gea is refusing to comment on the clause and as he continues to settle down following a rollercoaster of a summer.

He said: 'You should ask [my agent] Jorge [Mendes] that question; he's the one who pays attention to those details.'

De Gea was in sensational form during Spain's 1-0 win over Ukraine on Tuesday and made a number of important saves - adding that the one with his feet was the most impressive.

'I'm in the best form of my career. I always try and do my best. Things worked out well and the important thing was to win the game,' he told reporters.

'I always give my all and against Ukraine luck was on my side too. This is the way forward.

'For a goalkeeper, all saves are important, but if I had to choose one, maybe the stop with my feet in the first half with the game tied at 0-0. I'd opt for that one as my favourite.'

De Gea was picked ahead of Iker Casillas by Vincente del Bosque but the United No 1 insists that there is no ill-feeling towards the pair.

'Iker congratulated me on the performance,' he said.
'He's been an elite player for so long, so it's natural he wants to help me along, of course.

'I just want to be at the top of my game to make the decision for Vicente del Bosque as difficult as possible as to who should start at Euro 2016.'
