Luke Shaw set to fly back to Manchester

Luke Shaw will return to Manchester on Saturday morning as he continues his recovery from the horrendous double fracture to his right leg suffered in Manchester United's Champions League loss to PSV Eindhoven.

The 20-year-old left back underwent surgery and will be out for six months following an horrendous tackle by the PSV defender Hector Moreno.

In an Instagram post on Saturday, England defender Shaw thanked the medical staff at St Anna Hospital in Eindhoven and confirmed he was flying home.

Alongside three pictures with staff, Shaw wrote: 'I just wanna say a massive thank you to everyone at St Anna hosptal for all the care and attention they have given me the last few days.

'Something I will never forget! Am pleased to be flying back to Manchester today so I can start my journey back onto the football pitch!'

Shaw had started all eight of United's matches this season and was the only recognised left back in the squad.

Moreno's challenge was not punished by even a yellow card and United were upset when the Mexican, who scored in PSV's 2-1 victory, was named the official UEFA man of the match
