Louis van Gaal has insisted on a number of changes at Manchester United

Louis van Gaal's micromanagement of Manchester United even extends to choosing which of his players get to go up first for their lunches at the club's canteen.

The Dutchman is known for his discipline and attention to detail and Sportsmail understands this extends to the dining area at United's Carrington training complex.

A source said: 'The manager likes to mix it up and choose the order of who goes up for their food. He does it on a table by table basis and the players are trying to figure out the logic of it.

'You might think it is done on who he thinks has performed the best in training but they just don't know. It keeps them on their toes.'
Van Gaal has installed a number of changes at United's training ground.

Non-playing staff are now asked to dine in a separate area while the manager has even brought in circular tables to replace their rectangular predecessors in a bid to promote engagement between the players.

Headmaster Pep Guardiola injects new rules into City camp; bans mobile phones

He doesn't plan to chart a course like his colleague Ranieri of Leicester City did. Pep recently banned the use of mobile phones, and he also banned lateness to training. Every violation comes with a corresponding fine, ask Benjamin Mendy. Pep plans to repeat his outstanding triumph like he did last season.
