FIFA defends Video Assistant Referees (VAR)

There has been heavy criticism of the newly launched Video Assistant Referees (VAR). This technology was introduced to enhance accuracy of decisions made by the on-pitch officials.

It was first tested in the Club World Cup on Wednesday in the semifinal between Atletico Nacional and Kashima Antlers. It was also used yesterday to check Cristiano Ronaldo's goal against Club America.

Despite the criticism, FIFA's Head of Refereeing, Massimo Busacca, has defended the use and believes that it should be embraced by the world of football.
