Jesse Lingard became the latest of 'Louis' Lads' to make his mark with his first Manchester Uinted goal on Saturday – thanks to some extra coaching from his manager.
Louis Van Gaal arrived at Old Trafford with a reputation for improving young players like Patrick Kluivert, Andres Iniesta and Thomas Muller.
Lingard, 22, might not go on to have those kind of careers but his 52nd minute strike against West Brom was outstanding, instantly controlling Chris Brunt's clearance and curling a finish past Boaz Myhill into the bottom right-hand corner from 18 yards.
'It was a fantastic goal Lingard scored today. He had the same kind of chances a couple of days ago in training and he shot directly first time,' said van Gaal.
'I said to him 'you have to feel the ball first' because with that touch you have more feeling with the ball.
'He did it and scored a fantastic goal so I am very happy for him. He played very well and deserves it and I am a happy manager.'
Lingard has gone on loan to four Championship clubs to gain experience before winning a regular chance under LVG.
'Lingard impressed me when I first came here,' said van Gaal. 'He was in my first Premier League team but then got a heavy injury.
'Other clubs wanted him on loan this season but I said I wouldn't do that, I wanted to keep him. He has waited for his moment.'
Despite criticism for over-spending in the transfer market, van Gaal has also given 16 Academy players a run out in the first-team, the latest being 18-year-old defender Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, who made his debut on Saturday as a second-half replacement for Marcos Rojo.
