Jamie Vardy unfazed by potential scoring record

Jamie Vardy has insisted that although breaking the Premier League record for scoring in consecutive games would be an "honour", it is not on his mind after the 3-2 victory over West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.

The England striker netted with 13 minutes remaining of the victory at The Hawthorns to get his name on the scoresheet for the eighth match in a row and take his tally for the season to 11.Only Ruud van Nistelrooy and Daniel Sturridge have now scored in more consecutive Premier League matches than Vardy, but the 28-year-old insists that he is just concentrating on taking one game at a time.

"If I achieve it it will be an absolute honour but I have just got to knuckle down and prepare for the next game," he told reporters."As soon as I went through one-on-one I knew that I would slot it past [Boaz Myhill]. It would be great to equal Ruud van Nistelrooy's record but I have got to prepare for the next game and make sure I score then."The game was exhausting towards the end when they got a goal back, but the boys saw it out. We showed amazing character again."

Chelsea won't sign new players - Jose Mourinho

Chelsea will make no signings in the January transfer window, says manager Jose Mourinho. The team has enough capable and balanced players to even out in the coming competitions. The Blues have six matches before January 1, with the first starting today against Hull City. Mourinho plans to rest his senior players for this Yuletide season, saying he is doubtful any one player should appear in all the six matches. The manager has granted his European-based players a two-day 'holiday' to rest and 'have a nice dinner with their families'. The former Real Madrid manager's side meets Hull City in the Premier league today. Petr Cech will replace injured skipper goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the Hull City face-off. Cesc Fabregas is ruled out for suspension and midfielder Nemanja Matic joins the squad after ban.
