FA pledges £1.25m proceeds of the 2017 Community Shield to the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire


The FA has confirmed that the proceeds of the 2017 Community Shield that would be holding at the Wembley Stadium on the 6th of August will be donated to those affected by the horrific Grenfell Tower fire incident.

They hope to raise £1.25 million for the affected people. FA Chairman Greg Clarke made a statement:

"They will be united in their passion for football; their grief at this tragic loss; and their support for their community.

"Football is for all, and we hope that on Sunday August 6 it can in its own way give something back to those who are most in need."

"Families of those who lost their lives, survivors and emergency services responders will be invited to attend the game as the FA's guests.
