Ajax footballer Abdelhak Nouri collapses on the pitch; Doctors say "Permanent Brain Damage"




20-year old Ajax midfielder Abdelhak Nouri collapsed on the pitch in the 73rd minute during a game against Werder Bremen. He received CPR on the pitch and was airlifted to a hospital in Austria and it was said that he had "cardiac arrhytymias" -haert problems during the game.

Doctors have confirmed that he is currently battling "serious and permanent brain damage". The statement read:

"The diagnosis was made that a lot of [his] brain is not functioning. All this probably occurred due to a lack of oxygen supply."
