Argentine legend Maradona says Messi is not a leader...and it "useless" to try to make him one

Messi's struggle with his International career with Argentina has made Maradona come out to say that Messi need not be idolized and seen as a 'god' because he isn't and it is "useless" to try to make him one. Messi's international career can be considered a failure in comparison to his club career at Barcelona. The Argentine legend, Maradona, who had success both in his club career and international career had this to say about the man who is considered the greatest player in football history...

"Messi's a great player, but he's not a leader

"Before talking to the coach and players, he'll play on the PlayStation. Then, on the pitch, he wants to be the leader. He's the best along with Cristiano Ronaldo but for me, it's pointless to make a leader out of a man who goes to the bathroom 20 times before a match."

"There's no two ways around it. Lets stop making a God out of Messi. Messi is just another player for Argentina. I wouldn't call him up right now. We need to take pressure off him and the leadership away from him for him to be the Messi we want him to be."

"I would make him play as I want, how I know Messi can play"
