Inter Milan deny lowly Hellas Verona unlikely win in six-goal thriller

Serie A's bottom club Hellas Verona missed the chance to win back-to-back league games for the first time this season by throwing away a 3-1 lead and drawing 3-3 against top-four side Inter Milan this afternoon.
Visiting Inter took the lead after just seven minutes through Jeison Murillo, who rose well to powerfully head home a corner from the right.
Four minutes later Verona, who ended their 23-game wait for a league win in midweek, levelled in similar fashion, with Filip Helander getting up to nod home Luca Marrone's corner from eight yards.
The hectic start to the game continue as Verona then took the lead on the quarter-hour mark and again it came from a set piece as Eros Pisano headed home a Marrone free kick.

That was how it stayed until half time, but Verona were at it again 12 minutes into the second half and once again a Marrone set piece proved to be Inter's undoing as Artur Ionita ran in untracked to power home a corner.

Inter got back into it just four minutes later through top-scorer Mauro Icardi, who tucked home after being found in the middle by half-time substitute Ivan Perisic.

The remainder of the match was an entertaining end-to-end contest which saw both sides have several excellent opportunities, but it was Inter who grabbed the sixth goal to earn a point as Perisic's shot from a tight angle snuck in at the near post.

Inter have now won just won of their last six league games and miss the chance to go back above Fiorentina into the top three, while Verona are now nine points from safety.

Chelsea won't sign new players - Jose Mourinho

Chelsea will make no signings in the January transfer window, says manager Jose Mourinho. The team has enough capable and balanced players to even out in the coming competitions. The Blues have six matches before January 1, with the first starting today against Hull City. Mourinho plans to rest his senior players for this Yuletide season, saying he is doubtful any one player should appear in all the six matches. The manager has granted his European-based players a two-day 'holiday' to rest and 'have a nice dinner with their families'. The former Real Madrid manager's side meets Hull City in the Premier league today. Petr Cech will replace injured skipper goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in the Hull City face-off. Cesc Fabregas is ruled out for suspension and midfielder Nemanja Matic joins the squad after ban.
